WARNINGS - Beware when servicing stretch wrappers

N.B. DO NOT WORK ON THE FILM FEED UNLESS THE POWER IS DISCONNECTED. This includes when threading new film round the rollers or when cleaning the rollers. MANY machines have sensors which cause the film feed to start up, pulling clothing and limbs into the machine !

N.B. DO NOT BY PASS BLOWN FUSES. When replacing fuses it is imperative that the correct style and size of fuse be used...if you are not sure.... DO NOT ATTEMPT THE REPAIR.

Quick Checks - Common Stretch Wrapper Faults

Symptom	Possible cause

No power to the stretch wrapper	Check the plug is in the outlet
	Check fuse panel for power to outlet

Power is on but machine doesn't start	Fuses in machine panel blown - change fuses

Arm won't rotate	Photo eye/reflector may be out of line
	Check for blown fuse in machine panel

Table turns but film carriage won't go up	Photo eye cannot see anything to wrap (No pallet ?)
	Film carriage fuse blown
	Upper limit switch stuck or tripped

Film keeps breaking	Film tension to high
	Pin holes or tears in film (try a new roll)
	Film rollers must be clean and free from build up, or sharp points (burrs)

Table or arm is making grinding noise	Shut machine down - call for service

In most cases we are able to obtain spare parts from the original equipment manufacturers.

When manufacturers are out of business, we either find generic parts that will substitute or we will adapt the machine to accept generic parts. This is one of the advantages of employing a millwright service.

Types of stretch wrappers

Rotating Arm

The arm revolves around items to be wrapped.

A carriage, mounted on the arm, dispenses the wrap as it raises and lowers.

Fork lift trucks can drive through the wrapper when it is not functioning.

Rotating Table

The items to be wrapped are placed on a table.

The table and the items revolve.

The wrap carriage moves vertically up and down as the table and items rotate.
